Graduate Program (Master/PhD Courses)

The Department of Computer and Information Science (Master course), and the Department of Electronic and Information Engineering (Doctoral coarse) feature a rich and diverse teaching staff in the field of information science, and very active research. Recently, it has been promoting some projects, with collaboration from many laboratories, to realize a genuinely rich information environment suited to people. There is also active research in collaboration with industry and public institutes.

All graduate students receive detailed guidance in their various laboratories, enabling them to maximize use of the rich research environment and immerse themselves in their own research. A feature of this course is that all students present their work at conferences within Japan or overseas, or submit papers to journals. Graduates are evaluated highly in society and are active in various fields including research and system development.

Graduate School Organization

This section describes the organization of the graduate school for parts related to Computer and Information Sciences. Those admitted to the Master course (a standard two-year course for completing a master’s degree) enter the Department of Computer and Information Sciences as in the diagram below. Those admitted for the doctoral course (a standard 3-year course for completing a doctoral degree) enter the Department of Electronic and Information Engineering, in an intelligence or information engineering specialization. The Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology was also reorganized as a research university centered on the graduate school in 2004, so teaching staff belong to the Institute of Engineering, Division of Advanced Information Technology & Computer Science, which is a research organization, and instruct all students belonging to the Department of Information Science and the Department of Electronic and Information Engineering. See the laboratory introduction pages.
